When you say big... are you barrel-chested big? Or shall we say... rotundish? I have a student like this (see barrel-chested).. If so you may have to consider a more upright swing. Seeing that you're thinking you're too steep you want to try a rotary type... 3/4 might be all that your body gives you. Always take what the body gives you.

It sounds like you are looking for more turn and are overturning searching for more. You're simply coming off of the ball. Likely bumping chin with shoulder while picking up the club at the same time.

Are you maintaining your knee flex throughout the swing?

I know you tagged my on IG, sorry I didn't write something there. OK, from what I see, I would like to see you take the club back with shoulders and not have the first move with your hands. That might help bring the club on a better swing plane. At the top, you come in steep and pop up a bit. This will cause the topping issue you had. It would be a great idea to watch videos online of bigger guys swinging instead of smaller guys. Keep it up!
