TOPIC: How To: Strip your putter and go RAW!

Re: How To: Strip your putter and go RAW! 7 years 2 months ago #58731

Well got them off the shaft and they're in the coke bath as I type this. I need to go pickup the gun blue ASAP! I thought I was going to the store but that was not the case. Hmmm I've got a few hours I assume they need to be in the bath anyway so....

If you want to blue them I would suggest getting a oil/silicone rag from Sporting Goods section like at Wal-Mart to wipe them down after playing. They should be under $5. I would also some CRC Electric Grade Silicone Multi- Purpose Lubricant spray which you can find in Electrical section at Lowes. I would spray and wipe them down atleast one a month or after you play in the rain. This is great care for carbon putters with black oxide or oilcan finish.

Coke will not remove chrome finish since that is a plating process. You might be able to sand the chrome finish off but I'm not really sure you want to do that. You could always bead blast it if you don't like the shine of a chrome finish. That is what they call a satin finish.

:silly: alright welli just got back from wal mart, and they didn't have the gun blueing. So now I'm in a pickle.,.. Can I let them soak for 24-26 hours, or should I get them out?

I'm going to swing by dicks sporting goods tomorrow after church. I'm worried if I take them out of the bath they'll rust up pretty quick. Is this true?

If I take them out and they rust up, I'm sure I can clean that up/off right?
