So this summer I was playing a course I had never played before and we're at the first tee so of course I pull driver. Talking to my buddy as I walk around the cart to the tee box and this boulder/ rock garden right on the othe side of the cart. Short story long I chipped the crown of my Nike covert driver. So I've been playing around with the idea of going matte black with the top of the crown and leaving everything else the same. Looked at continental golf and BOS golf. Really don't wanna spend that money if I don't have to. Anybody refinish clubs themselves???

Like any kind of painting it's all in the prep work. Research what prep work the Titanium allowy needs to hold the paint properly. After that it is all about how good of a painter you are and what you use (spray can, air brush etc.).

From what I read its not too difficult. The taping is the most tedious part. The stuff I've read just says to lightly sand the old finish, scuff it up a bit and use the origional coat as a primer and rattle cans are apparently a lot better than they used to be. I've sanded and taped an old driver to practice on. I'll post pics to show the progress. Oh BTW it was one of the hardest things I've ever done taking sand paper to the crown of a golf club. Just goes against everything in my to scuff it up....on purpose.

This is the way to do it. Just make sure you use a light coat and don't overdo it with the spray paint.

Finished w/ my old callaway driver. The crown on this driver was all black w/ no alignment but since im wanting to leave the swoosh white on my nike driver I thought id experiment w/ taping on top of the crown. So I basically made a callaway "sticker" out of painters tape. I think it turned out pretty good. I see some areas that i can improve on before tackling the Nike Covert. But here it is.
