GB Crew!

The other day I went to Golf Galaxy to potentially swing a new driver, some new irons, and to inevitably pick up some new golf balls. As I was there I went to my go to, ProV1's and saw that Taylormade had come out with a new TP5 golf ball. Now, before I bagged the PROV1 I was a huge Penta and Penta TP5 player. I loved the feel and playability so note my surprise when they stopped making them and went to the Project (a) golf ball. I asked some of the staff if they had tried them and I was told no, that they stopped playing Taylormade balls the same time I did. But, being a sucker and having loved the previous TP5 golf balls I bought a dozen and went on my way. Below you will see my findings:

Driveeability:
My first thought as I swung as hard as I could at this brand new golfball on the number 1 tee was... WOW! It was like hitting butter for me off of the face of the club. My driver is worn out (Still the Adams I tested here 5 years ago) so I switched to my R11 three wood to see if I could control the spin. First drive with the TP5 and my 3 wood was dead straight 285 yards and felt amazing!

I continued the round and proceeded to hit 12 out of 14 fairways averaging a net distance of 290 yards estimated carry with about a 10-15 yard roll out. Very minimal spin and very easy to control off of the face of the club. (I got into an accident last year where i separated my shoulder and this was only the third time swinging the club since then. So awesome experience)

Iron Play:
To my surprise my irons, when hit on the sweet spot was awesome. Great distance, great control, and seemed to cut through the wind extremely well. I struggled hitting my irons that day but since then I have played 4 more rounds and have been able to dial these balls in. I play the TP5, not the X.

Coverstock on the balls seem to remain intact very well and does not scuff up very easily off of the club face. (Hit a cart path though and it scuffs)

Wedges/Greenside Control:
Great control and Feel. No issues dialing in the distance and spin control was awesome. If I wanted to draw the ball back I could at will, or just stop it on the green and it was great. Chipping and pitching was equally awesome, great control and the touch/feel was awesome.

Putting:
Great feel, easy to align, and rolled very true to what the ProV1's did.

Overall:
For 45 dollars a dozen this ball performed as expected and better than what I had originally thought I would find. I would rank it even with the ProV1 in distance, control, and overall playability. It is a touch on the lighter side so it takes a minute to get used to it, but overall I would highly recommend these balls. Excellent performance, with great responsiveness and overall it was awesome to have a ball that wasn't a titleist that performed the way I wanted it to without feeling like I was hitting a stone off of the tee. I would rank these balls as a 4.7 out of 5 stars. With the couple knocks being forgiveness, and the weight of the balls. They are not as forgiving as some and definitely illuminate any misses you have as they respond exactly the way you hit them.

Thank you all and hope you find this helpful.

Been working at my local GG and the TM rep gave us all a dozen TP5 and a dozen TP5x to try. Needless to say, I've found my new ball. Guess his marketing strategy worked (;
