Marius Filmalter is kind of a putting guru, here is a link to an entire evening's worth of reading on putting.

I would lay down 2 parallel sticks (or clubs) on the ground and use a pendulum motion to hit the ball.
At least that helps me with my alignment.

I usually set up putts around the green with various looks and line up normally. Then I make my eyes focus 3" past the ball on the line and putt through that spot.

Helps get the putter through the ball without lifting and works on keeping your line.

I like practicing distance control more. So I putt at spots on the practice green from 3, 6 and 10 ft and then a few long ones Concentrating fully on distance control and trying to just get it close to the spot. you might be surprised how much your accuracy improves. I also like the two ball drill. you putt two balls about a half inch apart and the same time. Make sure they are aligned correctly with what your putting towards. The object is to get both balls to roll at the same speed together. If your putter is open or your stroke is too much from inside and you dont square your ace the ball towards the heal will out race the other once. the opposite is true if your putter is closed.

I took a putting lesson a few years ago. The drill they gave me was to correct my inconsistency with getting the ball to start on the proper line, whether it was a push or pull (most of mine were pull's).
Purchase a steel/metal yard stick (HomeDepot/WalMart for ~$3). Put your golf ball on the 6" mark and practice rolling the ball down the yardstick without it falling off one side or the other. You'd be amazed at how hard this can be, especially if you're trying to make 10' or longer putt.

Try this drill ... if you get more consistent with putting the ball on-line, you'll make more putts.
BTW - this helps a lot with the 'YIPS' of making short putts.
