Florida has gators and Texas has snakes! I've seen a rattle snake near pampas grass and on the next hole 2 moccasins sitting on bridge you have to cross to green (left ball and took par).

Then I've driven out to my ball and apparently interrupted 15 million gnats of some sort as they started swarming. Took almost a full hole to shake them and still see dead ones here and there when I move bag. Btw, a swarm of anything sounds nasty in your ears. Loud.

Florida has all that and more ... :P

I played a course in Hawaii that was carved into the jungle. Any shot not in the fairway was gone! It was like playing in Jurassic Park.... without the raptors haha

Ko Olau or Luana Hills? Luana Hills is called Royal Hawaiian now I think.

Speaking of Hawaii golf courses, the mongoose are EVERYWHERE on the courses there. They will steal food right out of your cart and I saw one take a Spam Musubi (you'll have to Google that, they are delicious) that was twice it's size and just scampered back into the woods with it.

We also have a local course here that has 2 geese that are MEAN on the 15th hole. They are very territorial animals and have claimed the area near where you park the cart to go to the green. I've seen them run off a group of 4 elderly ladies, they just left their golf balls where they were and went to the next hole. Geese...... LOL

When I was stationed @ Aviano AB, the golf course there is actually on the part of the base that also contains the flight-line. Although calling F-4's(that's how old I am, now they're F-16's) a hazard might be a stretch imagine standing on the tee box, trying to gather your thoughts when one of them breaks the sound barrier :S

I certainly don't want to hog this topic, but the more I think of it, the more craziness I've seen on the course over the past 25+ years.

Cannon AFB, Whispering Winds Golf Course. There are migratory birds that nest there, called Mississippi Kites. When they have egss or chicks, they are VERY aggressive and dive-bomb you. We have to hold our drivers above our heads when we walked down the 10th fairway.

Quite often, they hit your club -or- if you don't have a club up, will knock your hat off with a high-speed pass! Madness...and since they're a protected species, there's nothing you can do about it except walk fast.

BTW - I've got bear on the golf course story too.
