Ping G15 Driver Review

Thanks for taking the time to read my reviews, as I hope I can give you some insight and assistance on you future possible purchase of these clubs. Just for some background information so that you know what kind of golfer is testing these, here is my profile- I am 6 feet tall, 250 lbs; I have a 110 MPH club speed, and I have a steep downswing towards impact. I play blades for my own personal set, and I am a 5 handicap. I play standard loft, lie and length, with x-stiff shafts in all of my clubs. I am now using a Levitee Glove, and if you haven’t tried one of these then you re literally leaving easy strokes and consistency out of your game. So without further adieu, here are my thoughts on the Ping G15 Driver.

Looks-
Not sure about this one here to be honest. I have never been a huge fan of the bigger driver heads, and that is what the Ping G15 is. When looking down, I couldn’t get comfortable because I felt like I was swinging a Fiat. But, on the other hadn, if the bigger driver heads are what you are looking for, then look no further. The grey-ish color is a nice change from the other clubs on the market, which was appealing to my eye. I feel comfortable rating this club at 5.5/10 for looks in my own preference.

Feel/Playability-
Since I couldn’t get comfortable looking down at the Ping G15, I was sure how I would like the feel, or even if I could actually hit it. But once I did, WOW. The feel of this driver is awesome in every sense of the word. The larger club head and more expanded weighting throughout the club make this club very easy to hit. The TFC shaft that I tested with the club felt very nice and stable, and did not seem to feel like a wet noodle like other stiff shafts do to me. Ping definitely has a winner in terms of feel and forgiveness with the G15 Driver. I would give it an 8/10 for feel and playability.

Performance- Since the Ping G15 driver was super forgiving and easy to hit, I was really expecting much in terms of playability. When trying to hit certain cuts and draws, I was able to do so with ease, But in some cases, I think the larger head took control of my swing. For a mid handicap player looking for a long driver, one that is hot off of the face, and one you can have some fun with, then the Ping G15 is for you. If Bubba can hit all of the 370 yard bananas with Ping drivers, why can’t you?? I’ll rate the performance of the G15 driver at a nice 8/10.

Overall final Grade- If you can get past the looks of the super large head, then the Ping G15 driver should be one of the next clubs on your list of clubs to try out. I really liked the ease of swinging this club, it just doesn’t fit my swing well enough to keep it in the bag. Anyone from a 6 handicap to about a 17 could and should be using this club. Ill give the Ping G15 a final grade of a B+.
