Course Reviews
Saddleback Golf Club Firestone Colorado

We are fortunate in the "Greater Denver Metro Area" to have A TREMENDOUS selection of great courses.  Today I'm reviewing the Saddleback Golf Club of Firestone Colorado as it is my "home course" and also where I play in a weekly league.

Readers Digest: Economical, Extremely Friendly Service Staff, Nice course setup, difficulty is at your discretion, always in good/playable condition.

The details: I have been playing this course for 3+ years now and every time I play it, I find something new and challenging.   The best way I can describe the course is a Heartland course with Links and Parkland tendencies.  There are varying wild grasses throughout and not a lot of trees.  You can play it on the ground ala a links course with only a few exceptions or through the air like a Parkland course.  It can play short or long (Tips play at 7090 and the whites play to 5539).

The course was designed by Colorado Golf Architect and Vail Resident Andy Johnson in 2001.  Having played with the owner of course before in League play, you can easily see why the staff is so friendly and supportive.  Had I not been told I was playing with the owner I would've never known as he was just another guy playing a round that day.

The signature hole of Saddleback is #16 and a Risk/Reward brain buster if I've ever seen one.  Playing 322 on the card this dogleg left actually boasts a 255 yard direct route carry over a lake.  I've lost my share of balls in this lake, but I've also found the promise land and have carded 1 eagle on this hole.  There is actually a league player who has made a hole in one on this hole 3 times!  See the story here: http://bcove.me/ggr6g6hv

All in all, Saddleback is a great course to play.  It doesn't have all the glitz and glamour of a resort style course but it plays well and true.  The service and affordability alone can't be beat.

Review:

St. James Golf Club is a great golf course in the Treasure Coast. It's not as well known as the many great courses here in South Florida. It offers many tees for all ranges of golfers and is very cheap as well... During summer months it is 15 dollars with cart included. The course is very wide open and hard to lose golf balls, but this also makes the winds blow very hard and can make it very hard to choose a club. The greens are very sloped, so its important to keep the ball below the hole. I play this golf course nearly every weekend and this course always plays different depending on which way the wind is blowing. So if you are in South Florida and want to play a very cheap course with a great lay out this would be your place... Also once again tell them a Keiser student sent you and you could pay as less as 20 dollars after one.

Babe Zaharias Golf Course Review
Written by Horse1

I want to start by saying this is one of my Home Courses. I play here every Saturday with the same 3 other guys.

I really like playing here. The Course is in Great shape. Here is some History on this special course .

Welcome to Babe Zaharias Golf Course

http://www.babezahariasgc.com/home/

Known in the Tampa Bay area as "The Babe," Babe Zaharias Golf Course was named after Mildred Ella "Babe" Didrikson Zaharias,

the female athlete of the 20th Century who owned and manged this historic golf course for 7 years.

Located just 20 minutes from downtown in the tree-lined residential neighborhood of Forest Hills,

The Babe measures a modest 6,244 yards, but should not be taken lightly.

Although both nines are par-35, the backside sports four par-4s in excess of 400 yards, providing a challenging course for golfers of all skill levels.

Now Take their words lightly. It might be short but it is difficult. I’ll Give you a hint.

If you notice the Tees forward. Prepare yourself because you will be facing some of the most

difficult Pin Positions. I have see guys reach the green in regulation and 4-5 Putt. Just today one guy had to putt 5 times.

He would putt and the ball would roll back further then

the point he started at. Don’t let that scare you. You will have a great time playing here for sure.
