TRUElinkswear Sensei Review

Made for Golf, Ready for Anything

As a fan of the TRUElinkswear brand I have enjoyed watching the evolution of their take on the golf shoe. From the first pair of Tours, to the PHX the new Tours and now the Sensei. The new Hybrid Sensei by TRUE is the first golf shoe I reviewed where my first day of testing was not on a golf course. I spent part of the day in the office working followed by a couple hours of running errands and finally a nice 20 minute run on the treadmill. It wasn’t until the first time I teed off with them on my feet that I realized I was wearing a pair of golf shoes, the most comfortable golf shoes I have tried on since the first Tours.

Looks and Design:

TRUE’s Sensei is by far the best looking pair of shoes TRUE has designed. From the color combos to the materials used, the shoe has an urban feel with fitness in mind. Picture golf meets cross-training. One of the best aspects of the Sensei compared to the older models is that the “wide toe box” is toned down and not as large but you still benefit from the barefoot platform technology which is TRUE’s biggest advantage. The Sensei is made from a moisture wicking 3D mesh liner for maximum breathability, durability and comfort as well as TRUE lite synthetic upper which keeps the TRUE sensei ultra-light and breathable at only 13.5 oz.’s, the lightest in golf.

Technology and Performance:

Comfort and allowing your body to function naturally are two priorities TRUE lives by. When it comes to golf, feel is very important for your hands on a golf club. The same statement is true when it comes to your feet. At just 10mm off the grass instead of the average of 22mm, the TRUE barefoot platform keeps your feet the closest to the ground. This enables the receptors on your feet to feel subtle breaks on the greens and gives your body a more natural movement while swinging the club and walking the course.

The Sensei utilizes TRUE’s barefoot outsole which is made from a thin, strong, and flexible rubber that allows your body's natural abilities to generate exceptional stability and traction by maximizing contact with the ground.

The outer rim of the shoe creates a "suction" effect to lock grass and sand under your foot for improved traction.

The TRUE Sensei is built with Zero Drop, meaning that your heel and forefoot are the same distance off the ground. This encourages a natural walking stride along with better posture and body alignment during the swing.

Conclusion:

I have said it before and I will say it again, on the course or off the course, TRUE does it again. But this time, it is a shoe that can go from the course, to the office and out around town, to the gym and through the trails. It truly is a comfortable and remarkable shoe. The TRUE sensei might just be the most versatile golf shoe ever created, supported by the fact that Ryan Moore won a PGA TOUR event and TRUE's President ran a Marathon wearing the sensei on the same day. The only downfall right now with the shoe is that it is not 100% waterproof. Being in mostly dry weather, it is not a big deal to me and there are way too many other factors on why you should not pass on these shoes. At $99 they are a steal and a golf shoe I highly recommend you try. For more information visit www.truelinkswear.com

Sunice 2013 Pro Sports and Sport Layers Collections

Sunice is a company located in Canada. Today Sunice is recognized as a top Canadian Golf outerwear brand. Sunice golf apparel is worn by players on the various Professional tours. My attention was first drawn to Sunice by LPGA player Karen Stupples. She was wearing Sunice rain gear.

For 2013 Sunice is turning up the heat.

From Sunice:

Pro-Sport Collection

Taking what we do best and applying it outside of the raingear spectrum has resulted in the Sunice ProSport Collection. This category features WINDSTOPPER® by Gore as its high-end performance gear, resulting in lightweight and fashion driven layering pieces.

For those weather conditions that are a little more demanding, your ultimate choice should be a WINDSTOPPER® garment. The most breathable, 100% windproof, highly water repellent styles available from Sunice include the new Triberg as a super lightweight and 4 ways stretch jacket; while the Malaga is the vest version incorporating the same feature. The Dundee, York, and Birmingham all provide new design options in our infamous WINDSTOPPER® lined sweaters.

Sport Layers Collection

Adding properly designed layers into a golf wardrobe can enhance a golfer's overall physical performance and ultimately improve their golf game. Sunice Performance Layers are designed to create an apparel layering system that allows golfers to play at their very best in all weather conditions. For cool mornings or damp dawns early in the season, when an extra layer is needed without the extra bulk or weight, the Allendale SuperLite FX™ Pullover is the update to the Olie and is definitively the ultimate choice. A chest pocket zipper surrounded by laser cut seal tape, moisture wicking properties, and bright color combinations are just a few of the details that make this piece stand out from the rest.

Final Thoughts:

I think Sunice brings a lot of style to go along with their High Performing outerwear. Playing in layers is a must for me. The breathable fabric placement keeps you dry and comfortable where needed while playing. While playing in Sunice Golf apparel, my swing felt natural and was not constricted. In Florida, our temperatures can change quickly during the colder months. Sunice makes it easy to peel on or off the layers you are wearing and still stay comfortable. With Sunice you can take the weather elements out of your game and focus on your  play.
