I would gladly test anything. If i had a preference it would be towards the high visability yellow balls (i just like them.. Ok!.. Hehe ). No matter what i got to try, it would be an adventure... I'd like that

So is everyone just up for testing certain balls? Or open to different kinds of balls and just keeping an open mind?

I'll test box of rocks, but it would take me a week to type it up on this dang phone. Better count me out.... Don't want Atari thumb.... :huh

I would be open to testing anything. It doesn't matter for me during casual rounds. Practice and event rounds.. different story of course.

That said.. it would be great for anyone testing to have an open mind... if the ball is the same genre as what you play than compare but be subjective.. or is it objective. Either way... it's one of them.

Testing Plan: I would probably play a few times in one week and play alternating holes with my current ball and others i have in stock for a direct comparison. Be interested in trying cheaper and more expensive types to compare value and performance.

Like I said, i'd be open to testing both game improvement, cheaper golf balls and performance premium ones. I've worked my way from a 30+ handicap to around 12 in the last 6-7 years and I feel like having gone from really crap to a somewhat decent player in a fairly short time I can see merits in both types of balls. The way i see it (and correct me if i'm wrong) is there are pro's and con's to both categories of ball, especially if you are a human who plays golf in the real world and you have to pay for your own equipment, so money is an issue. If i had to estimate i'd say more than 99% of golf balls ever manufactured are purchased by someone in this category. Anyway, here's my take on it

Premium Multilayer Urethane Covered Balls

Pros

-Spins more on chips, pitches, and approach shots
-Better/softer feel

Cons

-Spins sideways more, accentuating your miss hit drives, etc
-Because the ball is softer, it lasts a shorter time before it becomes worn and unplayable
- Usually costs 3-4 dollars a ball retail, which to most, even some avid golfers, seems an inordinate amount of money. Especially if you are losing a handful of em each time you play
- Some loss of distance

Better Value Distance Ball

Pro's

-Longer distance
-Better Durability
-Cost much less
-Reduce sidespin on drives, approaches

Con's

-Less ball-stopping spin
-Harder feel when hit

Well that turned out way to long. Anyway, these lists are basically the inverses of each other, but you hopefully get my drift here. I think these factors have to enter into any golf ball review.

Current Ball: Nike 20XI-X
Handicap: 1.4
Estimated Swing Speed: 95-110 mph
Estimated Driver Distance: 265-285
Recent Balls Played: Nike One Tour, ProV1x, Nike 20XI
Testing Plan: I play about 1-2 rounds a week. I do go to the practice green daily to chip and putt. I would mostly do my testing around the green, since that's where you score from.
