Think i am going to get a set of use xft wedges 50 54 58 nice wedge and the price just keeps falling.

Those are definitely some nice wedges! I like them, but I may be trying the Scor wedges as my next set...

And for that reason I want to go with a little less loft - 50*, 54* and 58* that should set me up for a full swing with the 50* gap wedge @ 100 yards and then working back from that. Now to convince the wife that different clubs is a necessity.

After testing today I am now totally set to start my season. I made three changes today after playing in the toughest conditions yet this early spring. Callaway woods out... TaylorMade woods back in. Unless there is some unforeseen opportunity my sig is what I'm gaming this year. It appears that I'm a CallaMade guy.

May rotate out one wedge for my 3 iron if course being played dictates the change.

That sounds like a good set. What TM's are they? And I don't have a 5 wood so I can have my 3 iron. Better out of the rough for me and I hit it 260 on a bad day ha ha so no need really for a 5 wood

The 5 wood that I'm ordering is the matching one to my Nike VRS Nike 3 wood. After 30 swings with it on the TrackMan I was avg distance of 255 in 44* weather and a little back wind with range balls. My 3 wood is working on the course @ something around 285 on avg. The cool part is I can choke down on the 3 wood and fly a stinger about 230-240 but it's certainly no optimal to have to play this strategy. My 4 iron is a 230 yard club on the course with ProV1x or Nike 20XI-s. So this 5 wood will certainly be useful from 240-265 pending the unique course conditions for the day.

So Stoked!!! Finally, I don't have to use my 3 wood as a 220 club, haha.


Alex, best of luck to your in your competitive play this year! I'm off to a nice start with 3 top 5 finishes and 1 6th place finish Tour for me starts April 21st at Pumpkin Ridge. I'm gonna channel Tigers Amateur championship wins in the days leading to that event!

What tours are you guys on? Are you aware of any tours in the Utah area? i would love to get into some more competitive golf but am unable to really find some.

The tour I play on is governed by our states Golf Association. We have the opportunity to play competitively and win some great prizes and payouts for each event. The culmination of this year long points race equals a hopeful top 25 finish to get the nod on the invite only championship at some world class courses. Last year it was Bandon Dunes. I'll post more on my Bandon experience in another thread.

This year it is at Brasada. I've played the likes of Tetherow, Pronghorn, Bandon Dunes and a few of the other Elite courses in our state but Brasada is the one that got away from when I was supposed to play it last year but had an emergency come up and missed out. This year I'm doing everything possible to play it and it's even more exciting to play it while in the Tour Championship. This should be a special year.

Check out your local Golf Association and see if they have something like this setup... Our Tour is statewide so it's fun to explore different locals and new courses. Often times, we have the opportunity to play private country clubs and resort courses that otherwise I would never get to. It's very special to me.

I have looked into the UGA website and although they show tournaments, being able to get a set schedule, with entry and things like that is nearly impossible! Its aggravating because no matter who I email it doesn't work out and I don't get the response I am looking for so its rough.

I would love to be around people on here to golf with, that is currently impossible and I think I am the only one from utah on this forum which is also rough.
