Have you tried to make some strokes on the rail matching your backswing to your through swing?

The lines on the front of the rail will help you measure.

It will feel strange at first, but you'll adjust quickly.

I tried on carpet and it didn't go so well. I hope to go to the course on Sunday afternoon for some practice.

I just wanted to post a bit of an update on my testing.
I've been pretty diligent about my putting tests.

I've been using the EyeLine Golf Edge Putting Rail almost every evening since April 7th.
I am using my indoor putting green set to 9', putting 100 putts with the rail, then another 50 without.
I have all the stats and I'll save that for a more expansive discussion, but I can say that I'm very pleased with how the numbers are turning out.

In my most recent round of golf, my putting wasn't spectacular and I realized that most of my problems have been alignment based. So, I intend to take the rail with me this weekend onto the putting green on the course to see if that helps with my reads and feel.

Sam, any thoughts or drills that may help me along my way?

Thanks for reading and stay tuned.

What didn't go well? The equal back and through?

First ... thank you for your diligence with your practice and evaluation.

You are right - alignment is the most important part of what happens before you begin your stroke.

The encouraging part of this is the human optical system. It adapts incredibly fast to adjustments. At this moment, your eyes have adjusted to your setup. If you are consistently aligning to the right, your eyes have figured out a way to tell your body to "pull" the putt to the target ... amazing.

When you correct your alignment, it will take your eyes a few strokes to recalibrate to the new "straight" - but it will happen very quickly. So - using our example - if you fix your alignment and start missing putts to the left, stay with it until your eyes calibrate.

One of the mistakes I see with the rail is when people don't align it and simply try to fiddle with the rail until they start making putts. They are training wrong.

Start with perfect alignment on a straight 5 footer, then force your eyes to tell your hands to putt the ball into the cup. They will do it!

Let me know how your process goes - I look forward to hearing.

How are you looking for the Edge Rail to help you with reads and feel?

I took the EyeLine Edge Rail with me to the putting green at the course yesterday.
I was there for well over an hour on just the greens.
I had an epiphany!! My alignment behind the ball and when I stand over it -- it's WAY off!!

During the course of my practicing, I would stand behind the ball, read the break and for a right to left putt, line it up on the right side.
BUT...once I stood over it, I would have sworn I was lined up left.
I hit the putt using the Edge Rail, and sure enough, it was lined up correctly.

Again...I was astounded. This happened again and again.
So, there was another guy on the greens, so I approached him and asked if he'd help me with something. He agreed...I asked him to line up the putt using the Edge Rail.
He did....I then asked him to hit it. He stood over the putt and said his alignment was wrong, he stepped off, went back behind the rail and the hole and replied "Nope, it's right".
He stood over it and said again "it just looks wrong". He hit the putt, it went on line.

He was amazed as well. He asked about the Rail, where I got it and how much it was.
I told him I was a tester for .com website and I'm testing a product from EyeLine Golf, and he could check EyeLineGolf.com to order one. He asked how much they cost?
I answered with a question - what would you be willing to pay for something like this?
He said $39.95 and he planned to buy one immediately, he was impressed!
I told him they're $59.95 - he was shocked and said for that price, he'd get a 2'x4' block of wood that would do the same. I talked about the audio sound and the 70 degree angle, along with the slight curve to mimic your perfect putting stroke. He said $60 is just too much and more than he'd spend for that. He was sold for $39.95...but not $59.95. I then mentioned he might be able to find one on Ebay cheaper - he liked that idea and said he'd check.

So...in summary, I found that practicing in my home with a putting green that's a foot wide, its a lot easier to line up the Rail with the track of green. But, once I put it on a real practice green, I realized not only does the Rail help me with my stroke, but also with the alignment issues. Brilliant!!

Thanks EyeLine, I'm on my way to better putting!

Thanks for the great narrative. I have seen your alignment scenario hundreds of times - including myself. In fact, that is where EyeLine began - me trying to fix my putting.
Regarding the price - your observer is right, and he is just like everyone. We are always looking for the best deal - me, too.
We do everything in our power to keep the price down - no TV ads, no infomercial, etc. Problem is - steel costs more than wood. Powder coating, and non-skid base is important. If it isn't fun to use we won't use it.
Your comments about the sound is great, and the lie angle is critical, too.

On the other hand, I would rather see him putt with a 2X4 than not practice correctly. Tell him there are free drills on our site to help him practice. The goal is to have fun and get better

I got to putt for about 30 minutes yesterday until the putting green became too packed for comfort and idiots trying to hit full flop shots 10 feet off the green.

I just wanted to see if I have learned anything from using the putting rail and happy to report I have and then some! Putting from various distances my putts were alot closer to the hole and made many more longer putts than I normally do. I even noticed I was able to read breaks better just trying to picture the putting rail and path/line I would hit the putt on. I also tried taking the putter back and follow through the same distance which really helped my rythme, speed, and direction. Even using a 370g putter... in the past I found a can wave it around which causes all kinds of problems when trying to putt. I saw I had a much smoother take away and follow through which made my putts stay on my intended path so much better.

I'm very happy with my improvements so far and can't wait for my upcoming scrambles. I might be 2nd or 3rd putter not the 1st to show you not what to do!!

That may be the best reason to improve your putting ... "to not be the first putter in a scramble" ... awesome!

Lupis,
What is your career background?

Sam,

Sorry for the delay in my response. I am going to put tap a talk on my phone this evening so that I have constant access to the forum. I feel quite bad about not being as active as I want to be so I want to apologize to everyone here. It seems like when it rains it pours with that my Babysitter just quit on me as well so now I have my baby girl with me all the time. Which is alright but still a bit of an inconvenience.

Sam, in answer to your question I have background in everything. I am a jack of all trades or so one would say. I specialize in sales, account management, marketing, and anything to do with clients. I have coached, and done many things but I am a very effective sales agent but I learn quick and can do anything I put my mind to. If you want PM me and I will give you a call and we can talk a bit more about my qualifications.

Also, I did get out with the rail for around 3 hours over the weekend, went and shot 18 shot a 78 at a course I never played, sunk a 24 foot eagle putt and made some really good advances on the greens. I will post a more in depth review when I get the chance. Thank you again to everyone for all of your nice sentiments and I am hoping to get a job more related to golf if at all possible to also help with my reviews on here!

Thanks everyone,
Andrew aka: Lupus Vir
